It's never too late to put a good idea into practice. Especially not for Siegfried Schmid, founder of the startup flexomobil. At the age of 73, he wants to do it again and says he is living the dream of his life!
It's not the first company Siegfried Schmid has founded, and it may not be the last.
Up with style
The 73-year-old young entrepreneur wants to help older people stay in their own homes for as long as possible. He wants to make this possible with a built-in vertical lift, a home lift that takes his customers “upstairs in style.” Schmid explains that, up to now, so-called seat lifts have mainly been used. However, these installations are not very attractive to look at and would discourage users from taking the stairs from time to time despite difficulties in walking.
Encouraging movement
Especially at a certain age and with increasing physical ailments, it is all the more important to keep moving and not to restrict all activities to a minimum. Otherwise, over time, all the muscles would break down and make walking more and more difficult.
Moving forward as a team
Schmid is still in the early stages with his startup, but he has since hired four new employees and is still looking for motivated personnel. For his “Hauslift – Made in Switzerland,” he is working with the ZHAW. The company sees the elderly, with limited mobility, as the focus of its efforts. The aim is to increase the value of the house by redesigning it, to find an elegant solution, but above all to enable people to remain independent and self-sufficient in their own house or apartment for as long as possible.
We warmly welcome Siegfried Schmid and his entire team to TECHNOPARK Winti and wish them every success in their exciting project.
