The RUNWAY Incubator startup Unbound Potential has won an additional 3 million euros in funding as part of the 2nd phase of the Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen SPRIND LDES Challenge. This is to support the pilot installation of a 0.5 MWh battery within the next 1.5 years, as the company states on LinkedIn. The raised funds are non-dilutive and will not change the company’s ownership structure.
A new type of redox flow battery
Unbound Potential is developing an innovative redox flow battery that will enable long-term energy storage through low system complexity and higher efficiency. Current redox flow battery systems cannot compete with Li-ion technology due to their high initial cost, system complexity and limited efficiency. The innovative technology from Unbound Potential intends to make this possible. At the 39th Energy Lunch of the energie bewegt winterthur association, David Taylor, CEO of Unbound Potential, gave an impressive presentation of his company’s solution to the audience.
