SoundSculpt wins the ZHAW Startup Challenge

SoundSculpt has emerged as the winner of the ZHAW Startup Challenge at Technopark Winterthur. The start-up uses 3D printing to produce elements for sound insulation in workplaces from old textiles. Second place went to RISE, third place to RegioPilz and the jury prize to Bright Avenir.

The Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) Startup Challenge 2024 has come to an end with the winners being honoured at Technopark Winterthur. According to a press release from Startup Campus Switzerland, the winner of the final pitch event was the start-up SoundSculpt by Kine Baekkevold and Noémie Antonio. They use a 3D printer to produce elements for sound insulation in workplaces from old textiles.

Cloud computing from Rise came in second place. Instead of utilising the power of physical devices, Rise uses the unlimited power of the Azure server infrastructure. The data is available on all individual devices with the same desktop and does not need to be exchanged with each other.

3rd place went to RegioPilz. The start-up already produces various freshly harvested and dried mushrooms for restaurants, retailers and private individuals on a substrate made from forest waste from the region, as well as a seasoning powder made from the glutamine in the mushrooms.

The jury prize went to Bright Avenir, which wants to set up a battery network. It is intended to store energy during peaks in the electricity grid, which are caused by the increasing number of solar cells, for example.

ZHAW students have been developing their business ideas in three workshops and individual coaching sessions since April. In addition to a free six-month membership of the RUNWAY Startup Incubator, the top three winners will receive services worth CHF 3,000, CHF 2,000 and CHF 1,000 to realise their project. The winning team will also receive a grand prize in the form of a startup trip, where they can gain additional team experience. ce/mm
