As of 1 October 2024, the TPW tenant company Lumexus will take over the management of the Naturwissenschaftliche Gesellschaft Winterthur (NGW), the largest natural science society in Switzerland. With over 1,000 members, the NGW is an important link between universities and the public in the field of science education.
From 1 October 2024, Lumexus will take over the management of the Naturwissenschaftliche Gesellschaft Winterthur (NGW). The Winterthur-based team of six will succeed Matthias Erzinger and u&me projekte GmbH. The latter is stepping down after six years of successfully setting up and establishing the organisational unit. Last spring, the company Lumexus won the tender. ‘We are very proud to be able to support this highly relevant scientific organisation in the current environment of fake news and disinformation,’ says Co- CEO David Peran. From 1 October, NGW’s headquarters will also be located in Technopark Winterthur at Technoparkstrasse 2.
A society in transition
The NGW has been an important link between science and the general public for more than 140 years. Its declared aim is to share scientific knowledge with the general public in a low-threshold manner. In order to achieve this, the NGW organises various lectures, events, excursions and educational events every year, such as the Winterthur Children’s University.
In recent years, the society has grown to over 1,000 members thanks to various functionaries, such as former President Peter Lippuner. Michael Oettli has been President of the association since 2022 and is setting the course for the rejuvenation and expansion of the scientific society with youNGW, for example. ‘In order to optimally accompany this change, we have been looking for a team that can go hand in hand with its diversity and continue the valuable work of Matthias Erzinger,’ says NGW President Michael Oettli.
Model of success in Winterthur
Clubs, associations and organisations today find themselves in a more complex environment than ever before. Not only has day-to-day business become more fast-paced, but the skillset required by management is now barely manageable by one person. This is where Lumexus and its diverse team of experts come in. They combine their skills in communication, marketing, IT and administration to optimise the management of associations.
Thanks to a successful induction period with predecessor Matthias Erzinger, NGW and the Lumexus team are confident that the takeover will be a smooth one.
