New at Technopark: Customised industrial solutions – Linked Engineering makes it possible

The engineering service provider Linked-Engineering with Rafailo Velimirovic and his team offer the industry a helping hand. Together, they develop prototypes and produce small series. Their customers are diverse. This makes their creativity and solution-orientated way of working the most important tool in their everyday lives.

Rafailo Velimirovic and his company Linked Engineering have been based at Technopark Winterthur since August 2023. The engineering office supports industrial companies and start-ups when it comes to product development in mechanical engineering. Rafailo Velimirovic accompanies his customers from the concept to the finished prototype or even a small series. State-of-the-art technologies such as 3D printing are used, but classic development work supplemented with material procurement and assembly work nevertheless remain an essential part of his successful concept.

Founding in difficult times

Rafailo Velimirovic founded his company during the coronavirus crisis. The start was correspondingly difficult. “In the beginning, I mainly won over customers through cold calling,” says the qualified mechanical engineer. Things clicked into place when a company based in the Technopark commissioned him for a project. After that, the business took off. Rafailo believes that his company’s recipe for success lies above all in its straightforwardness and the high quality of its service. Now Rafailo can look back on a large customer base of well-known companies. This means that Linked Engineering has to develop mechanical engineering solutions in a wide variety of sectors. A diversity that has become a strength of the company.

Diversity opens up creative horizons

An engineering company like Linked Engineering is active in many different sectors at the same time. These range from plant engineering to vehicle construction. This requires enormous expertise and experience. Solutions often have to be found for devices or products that require a great deal of creativity and thinking outside the box. This is where Rafailo Velimirovic benefits from the diversity of his clientele.

In-house development

An essential part of Linked Engineering’s day-to-day work is the new and further development of products. This is why the development area should always remain in-house. In his small assembly workshop, he and his team therefore assemble as much as possible themselves. He uses third-party equipment for 3D printing. The only parts he does not produce himself are individual manufactured parts. However, he works closely with partner companies from Switzerland. This enables him to guarantee high quality, fast material availability and continuous improvement in the procurement process, as the former trained polymechanic reports.

In future, Rafailo Velimirovic wants to withdraw somewhat from the operational business and act more strategically. He is now looking for additional staff. His aim is to grow organically in the future and then decide how big Linked Engineering really can become. However, one thing is already clear to him: he always wants to take time for his customers and communicate openly and transparently.
