The startup Onify has set itself the goal of shaking up the mechanical engineering industry a bit. The two founders have already been using open source software for years and now want to use it for various manufacturer devices in the more traditional mechanical engineering sector.
Technical innovations in 5G and industrial automation
Since May 2022, the startup Onify can now be found together with the company 56k.cloud at Technopark in Winterthur. The new location is ideal for the two founders, as it is located in a former industrial building.
The founders of Onify, both software and hardware specialists, met years ago at a mutual employer. In February of this year, Alexander Schäpper, founder of Onify GmbH, decided to bring his colleague Fabian Ott on board. As a trained electrician and mechanical engineering expert, Ott is particularly familiar with hardware.
Managing directors make a good team
The two managing directors complement each other ideally and see eye to eye. Flexibility is important to them, which is why they don’t want to tie their customers down too much to contracts or subscriptions. Alexander is more willing to take risks and is a networker; he approaches people directly. Fabian, on the other hand, works more in the background and takes care of the operational side. In everyday life, the two business partners balance each other out well.
