Heat purchase from the MWIP
Technopark is connected to the heating network of the waste recycling plant of Stadtwerk Winterthur. Our heating energy (for space heating and hot water) thus comes from waste.
Technopark is committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This not only as a public-private partnership with the city of Winterthur, the canton of Zurich and renowned industrial companies and service providers as shareholders. But also because startups increasingly value a company location that strives for these goals. Startups also want to do business sustainably.
Since its foundation and the move into an exemplary renovated Sulzer brick building from 1907, Technopark has made many efforts to live up to the SDGs.

Since 2013, we have been operating a PV system with 77 kWp on our roof. Since March 2023, the system is extended to a total of 150 kWp. We use 70% of the produced electricity for our own needs, the rest is sold via our startup tenant Flecopower.
The building was built to the Minergie standard. Thanks to many additional measures, it achieves category A according to the building energy certificate of the cantons (GEAK).
The building is equipped with high-quality slat blinds that automatically position themselves according to the weather and the season to repel heat in the summer and retain heat in the winter.
A central disposal station is available to tenants, where waste is consistently separated and sent for recycling.
Our bistro operator, mimicus, consistently focuses on sustainable nutrition. The standard menu includes vegetarian and vegan dishes.
There are 4 visitor parking spaces with charging stations in the Technopark underground parking garage. All tenant parking spaces are prepared for the connection of charging stations with load management.
The train station Winterthur, the 3rd largest in Switzerland, is only a 7-minute walk away. The first fast bicycle route in Winterthur, "Töss", passes our building. And around the Technopark there are best possibilities for shopping or going out.
We compensate our residual CO2 emissions by supporting the foundation "KMU Climate". They plant trees in Uruguay.
