Hofwiesen retirement centre has tested the intelligent straightening station from Sanetics AG. The pilot project has proved successful and the computer-assisted straightening process for medication is now used daily at the centre.
The Hofwiesen retirement centre in Dietlikon has tested the intelligent SaniGuide direction station from Sanetics AG as part of a pilot project. This development by the start-up based in Technopark Winterthur is designed to support care staff in the distribution of medication. It is designed to reduce labour costs and avoid direction errors.
According to a report by Sanetics, SaniGuide automatically docks onto the existing careCoach software, which is used to manage the medication of residents at the retirement centre. The data is transferred directly to SaniGuide. The straightening station guides staff through the straightening process and then carries out a check with the support of computer vision. Sanetics says that the system recognises all medications approved by SwissMedic.
According to the report, the pilot project launched in 2023 has proven its worth. One person can now carry out the orientation process for the entire centre. Previously, two people were involved in the assessment process in each of the centre’s three departments. This now leaves more time for caring for the residents. ‘The increased medication safety and the enormous efficiency gains speak for themselves,’ says Mauro Bernasconi, Head of Nursing and Care at Hofwiesen. ce/ssp
